What style(s) do you specialise in?

I bring a modern reportage style to your wedding and generally my clients prefer a more natural look. Most couples also like a few classic, perhaps more formal shots too. I aim to capture the feel of your day and leave you with a set of images that look great now but will also age well.

Will the photos be retouched? Is that done before I see the proofs?

Yes, I balance the colours and clean up the images before you see them. I don't heavily edit images as that would work against the natural I cultivate.

How many weddings have you shot, and how many do you do in a year?

I was a second shooter for other photographers for years before I decided to branch out on my own.

I shoot a maximum of 25 weddings a year. I limit it to this because

What's your favorite part of a wedding day, and time of year to shoot?

Do you shoot both digital and film?

Why you want to know: While digital is more common today, film has had a resurgence. If you want the latter, be sure your photographer has the relevant experience and skills required to execute this old-school format. If you're obsessed with the dreamy quality of film, go with a pro in this medium. In addition to asking how many weddings they've shot in total (see above), let them know how many you want taken with film.

What exactly is included in the price?

Why you want to know: When comparing fees, check whether prints, albums and proofs, as well as extra coverage such as engagement shoots, are covered. They can all alter the costs significantly. It's not necessarily a bad thing if, say, your album isn't included—you can always make this on your own or buy it à la carte—but you want to be sure you're comparing apples to apples to get the best value. If you're having your shooter use film, also ask about film costs and processing fees.

How many hours of coverage do we get? What is the charge for overtime?

Generally I will be available from the bridal prep in the morning until some time after the first dance. Up to 12 hours is included if required

Will there be any hidden costs?

No. Only what we agree.

Will you be my actual photographer, or will it be one of your associates?

You book me, you get me!

I do have associate photographers but they are used as second shooters if and when they are required.

Do you have backup photographers who will shoot the wedding if you're sick?

Should the worst happen I will arrange for another, trusted photographer to take my place.

But It's never been necessary.

Will there be a second shooter or any assistants?

As standard a second shooter is not included in the price and I don't generally require an assistant.

A second shooter can be arranged for a fee if you would like extra Images or if there is a particular request which requires a second professional photographer

On occasion I may from time to time have an assistant who is there for experience, but they would only be there with your express permission in advance.

How long after the wedding do we get to see the photos?

Why you want to know: You'll want to see photos ASAP, and the wait can be pretty agonizing (it can take months!). But if you know in advance, you can manage your (and your mom's) expectations.

Do you do video?

I work closely with an incredibly talented Videographer named Mathew. Our styles go very well together and I am always blown away by his work.

I am also more than happy to meet and coordinate with any videographers you may hire

How many weddings do you do a weekend?

Will you follow a shot list?

Absolutely. If there are a few particular shots you want then lets arrange for it to happen.

What type of paper will you use for the prints and album?

My albums and prints are all on acid free, archival quality paper in a range of finishes.

What are the restrictions for sharing photos?

My fee includes an online proofing gallery for you to download your images and order prints. You can also share directly to social media or even open up the whole gallery to all your friends and family. There are no restrictions on sharing the images and I don't require you to print through me. The print services I offer are a little more expensive than what you can find on the high street but the quality is exceptional

What cameras do you use?

I use a couple of Sony α series, full frame, mirrorless cameras and Carl Zeiss Lenses. These are amazing, top of the range digital cameras and Zeiss are arguably the finest lens manufacturer in the world.

Do you bring your own lighting?

During the ceremony I keep my distance, the last thing I want is to become the focus on a day that is entirely about you! Thats why I avoid artificial lighting during the ceremony wherever possible.

I tend to use a few flashes and stands to help me get great images during the reception. I only use small non-bulky flashes.

How will you dress?

like this:

I need to be able to move freely to get the best shots so rather than a jacket I wear a shirt, tie, waistcoat trousers and dress boots.

I hate posing, do I have to pose?

I'm very hands off with posing. As far as I'm concerned I'm there to capture your day not put pressure on you to perform. I want to see the moments as they unfold naturally . There might be a few points where I may need some help (such as formal pictures after the ceremony) but they are pretty few and far between.

How does the album design process work?
